What is it?

Yukan, the App that encourages young people to disconnect the phone to connect with social projects that help to improve the World.

  • Download the app for free on App Store or Google Play.
  • Decide the time to be disconnected from the phone.
  • Choose the social cause to invest the hours in.
  • Disconnect your phone for the selected time.
  • Thank you for helping to build a better World.

Why Yukan?

Because young people between 14 and 29 spend an average of 9 hours a day online *.

The dependence on mobile phones is particularly worrying for adolescents since they are in the process of learning and the excessive use of it can damage their intellectual, professional and social development.

* Common Sense (2015):

Media Use by Tweens And Teens

Yukan gives the phone a positive touch. Not being available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or spending hours trapped on the screen ...

...but to take a break, disconnect from time to time and help improve hour by hour and minute by minute the world a bit.

Young people can decide in which social project they want to allocate their hours of disconnection.

When all yukaners get the necessary hours to carry out a project, the institution in charge will be financially supported.

And so, while they earn time for themselves and to be with others, young people can support different social projects.

Yukan is financed with the support of sponsoring companies. With their contribution, they show Yukan young users their forward-looking and their social commitment. Their collaboration to make children and young people more responsible using the phone demonstrates their social responsibility in the formation of our future generations.

Description

Con Yukan puedes apoyar a Back to Life para que la escuela para niñas y niños en Chitwan pueda ampliarse y así, más alumnos puedan escolarizarse.

Project

Organisation

Description

Together with Yukan you can support the Icelandic pony „Bjossi“ who is engaged in the Children’s Hospice as support and he also gives the sick children trust, energy and zest for life.

Project

„Bjossi“ belongs to the Bärenherz- Family since the beginning of the year and completes the supply of pet therapy in the children’s hospital Bärenherz in Wiesbaden. With his quiet and loving manner he supports the sick children and their brothers and sisters: when he carefully makes contact with his soft nose, he conjures up a smile on the children’s lips and allows them sometimes to forget about the difficult daily life. Bjössi, whose name means”bear cub” in Icelandic provides the children with faith, strength and zest for life. The dear gelding has a fine instinct and reacts to even the smallest instructions of the trainer. Therefore making it possible for the sick children as well as their siblings to come to the riding lessons and the hours of therapy as well as feeling his bright, soft and warm skin and also his gentle walk.

Organisation

The Wiesbaden Bärenherz Charity supports families whose child is sick and will die. The family lives the time of the illness and farewell of the child very intensively and extremely closely. This requires an endless amount of energy from all family members. In both Bärenherz children’s hospitals the families will also be accompanied from the time of the diagnosis until the death of the child. The sick children have qualified nursing and loving care and the parents and all family members of the child receive understanding, closeness, help and comfort. Therefore many hands are needed… the nurses, the pedagogical team, the pastoral work, the people who accompany the siblings, the music and physiotherapists, doctors and many, many more. They contribute security, support and strength towards the accompanying children and their families. Therefore the Bärenherz Charity is dependent on donations.

Description

Together with Yukan you can support the Arc, where the children have as well as a wide variety of help and leisure activities including sport, games and music they also receive a free warm meal.

Project

A warm meal does not belong to the daily life in so many families. Therefore at the Arche the children’s daily time begins with a free, warm lunch. The healthy , wholesome and balanced diet at the Arche establishes an important share of a reliable and unburdened daily structure.

The meal that they eat together is a time to engage in conversation with the children and to nourish relationships. They experience an atmosphere where they feel welcome and at home. With the colleagues at the Arche there is always a sympathetic ear for the children to talk about either their frustration or enthusiasm that they feel.

Organisation

The Arche fights against child poverty in Germany. Through their facilities they offer the children a free, wholesome, warm meal, and breakfast at the schools. They also provide tutoring and useful leisure activities with sport, games, music and above all interest as children need confirmation for their self confidence. They need to feel important and loved. Many children in this country experience this far too seldom. The employees at the Arche recognise and encourage the potential of their visitors. The three pillars stand for respect, sustainability and love.

THANKS YUKANER!
WITH YOUR HELP THE GOAL HAS BEEN ACHIEVED

Project

At the shelter house, Prolibertas provides basic care services to women who have been imprisoned in penitentiary centres in the autonomous community of Madrid. Prolibertas also provides a wide range of recreational and educational activities to help these women with social and work reintegration, with an end goal of helping them to become completely autonomous.
This shelter house welcomes national or immigrant prisoners who may or may not have children under their charge. Women can visit the house with a release on license or while on parole, and by doing so they stay in touch with society and can prepare for the changes that will face them when they are released from prison.
This project not only works on empowerment and equality, but also on solidarity.

Organisation

Prolibertas is a nonprofit foundation whose goals are to fight against social exclusion by supporting people who need help yet lack the resources to find solutions.

THANKS YUKANER!
WITH YOUR HELP THE GOAL HAS BEEN ACHIEVED

Project

Due to a lack of resources in Nepal, many young people cannot continue their studies after school. For this reason, Nepal Sonríe has set up a Project called “Proyecto de Mayores”, which is for kids in their late teens or early twenties. The aim is to provide scholarships to cover their education costs to allow them to pursue their studies. Beneficiaries sign an agreement in which they commit to obtaining good results, to being involved in their studies and to supporting or contributing to the NGO should the need arise. The aim of the contract is to establish a relationship of mutual cooperation and relinquishment of a monetary charity.
This programme covers: maintenance, accommodation, administration and registration fees as well as any other costs directly related to their education, such as study materials or transport.

Organisation

Nepal Sonríe is a nongovernmental development organization whose goal is cooperation in order to improve the lives of disadvantaged children in Hetauda, Nepal.
